my 13yrold jack has had arthritis for some time it was eased by metacam but now it does not seem to last long enough. last week he must have slipped or something in the nigh because in the morning he could not walk at all and was in great pain from his hip and right knee. he would not eat and as a diabetic it was a double problem. we rushed him to the vets who checked him over very well, and said that he had probably slipped or something and grated his arthritic bones together. he gave him a jab of vetergesic and said it might have a slight sedative effect, however wthin half an hour he was totally out of it, stoned for want of another word he did not move eat drink or relieve himself for 10 hrs what i want to ask is does anyone have aany ideas of what to do when metacam does not work so well anymore? we have him on msm, sillica and emu oil already he can not have glucosamine because of his diabetes. he hip and knee are back to the same as before the incident but i would like his painrelief to be 24/7

I found accupuncture very effective . You need to find a vet who does it though.

pru where do you live?

If you're in the South East I can recommend an acupunture specialist.
