Does any one know what the price of these puppies is?
- By wintamagaik [gb] Date 24.10.04 20:52 UTC
I'm not sure of the price, but I think there are only a couple of breeders in the UK - maybe one of them can give you an idea?

I know that one breeder is:   http://www.alaskankleekai.co.uk/

I know someone who had this breed and has given up with them as they have such horrendous health problems - think there is a danger of these 'miniaturised breeds ' becoming too fashionable for the gene pool to sustain. She used to charge between £700 - £1000 per puppy.

I thought they did not have many health issues,Why do they charge so much for this breed,is it because they are new?Are they a kc registered breed?
- By Anwen [gb] Date 25.10.04 10:17 UTC
I'm always suspicious of any "new" breed that doesn't make health tests a priority. It's easy to say a breed doesn't have health problems if none are tested! They are not recognised by the KC, nor by the AKC, they've been around for less than 40 yrs.  High prices must be due to novelty value.

So really they don't warrent the high price.I only asked as someone i know was telling me about them the other day but she said they were a lot more expensive, its normal sized sibes for me all the way.(like to go on a bike with my dogs)But i suppose they will become a fashion accessory soon judging by the reaction i get from people who love the look of the husky but not all that goes with the breed.I wonder if they can be let off leads?

I can't understand why people don't go for one of the smaller Spitz breeds then - there's plenty to choose from!

To me they look more like the Lundehund or Puffin dog from Norway - they certainly don't have the WOW factor that most Sibes have although they are kind of cute. Their heads are broader in proportion to their bodies and they lack the elegance of a 'proper' sibe - still they seem to be flavour of the month at the moment in America along with many other 'miniaturised' breeds

how tall are they meant to be?
- By shedog [gb] Date 27.10.04 11:01 UTC
After having a nosey at some sites (i had never heard of them so i had to look)It seems they start from toy size then miniture then standard.think it is no taller than 17 or 18 inches but could be wrong only looked at a few sites.

i had a look at some sites & couldnt find a "height range" at all!!!!!?
- By shedog [gb] Date 27.10.04 16:17 UTC
Most of the sites were american i will see if i can find it again and let you know
- By Anwen [gb] Date 27.10.04 20:22 UTC
I had a look but I've forgotten exactly! Think there were 2 sizes starting at around 13 ins, maximum 17 inches.
- By shedog [gb] Date 27.10.04 21:24 UTC
On one site it showed three sizes, because i got the ruler out trying to imagine a husky looking dog at about 8 inches, the smaller(toy)end of the range (i know i am sad but the dog looked like a black and white husky pup but It was an adult)And the standard size didn't go off the end of my ruler. It is a18 incher
