As some of you know I am in Labrador rescue (not going to bore you with that) anyway often we get dogs at between 10 months and 18 months in what I call their hooligan stage, some will rehome into normal families but others need that special kind of life living in a home only doesnt provide, well such a Dog was Barney he came to us a big silly yellow lab with a massive white chest we actually homed him with a family but they brought him back because he destroyed the Dyson !!!
Well Barney the big eeedjit stayed here for quite a while when a Prison dog handler came to see him,he took Barney as he promised he would be a family pet as well as a worker.
The upshot is that today I received the best news ever,Barney is now passive prison dog and passed his course with flying colours.
John says at home he is a lovely silly dog but as soon as the harness is on he goes into work mode.
It makes me proud to know that we have helped select the right home for dogs like Barney who together with another rescued labrador Murphy (rescued from Ireland) were the top dogs on the course.
This year 4 dogs have gone from here to the prison service and all doing well,we will soon have an official picture of Barney with his handler to put up at our Sanctuary.
Did you know that many rescued Springers,Labs,Collies etc.. go onto the ervices and make great dogs so it just shows there is a home and a life for every dog its just finding them. :)

Lisa

Thats such a nice thing....Its lovely that rescue dogs go into the services...you want to go to the original owners and throw everything in there face.....
Excellent new, Mattie. They say every dog has his day and it sounds like Barney is certainly having his. Long may he work and enjoy his new life.
That's brilliant news, i bet he is really enjoying himself now :)
