Me and my SBT went to the vets yesterday for her 6 month health check why are they so quick to judge ? Told me she needed a new harness because it was too small, I'd socked it the day before because millie had rolled in something really smelly in the field it only neede adjusting to make it a bit looser. Also millie had eated scrambled eggs for breaky and didi a whiffy poop the vet was quick to say ''someones food isnt suiting her'' should i stop feeding her eggs if it gives millie the poops. Also vet spoke a lot about spaying told me millie could have it done straight away even though she hasnt had her first season is this correct i thought she had to have her first season before spaying, which would be best, afterwards will i need to take time off work to look after her, i work 4 hours a day.

thanks

Typical vet. All some think of is how to make money from the inexperienced dog owner. If you are happy with your feeding regime, and your dog is happy and healthy why change it? It sounds like the vet wants you to use one of their 'very expensive' bags of dog food. Of course they will supply it for you ;) .

As to the speying. I personally wouldn't spey until a bitch has had her first season just to make sure that everything has matured. Again, this has to be your choice. Do you want to spey her? It's not cheap, and things can go wrong (thankfully not very often). Don't be railroaded by your vet. Let him advise you, but the final decision is yours. :)

P.S. I have my bitches speyed when I decide I won't be breeding off them, so I'm not against speying. I work about 4 hours a day and have left them whilst at work. They've been ok.

No all vets are so quick to judge. Yours didn't do very well with you from the sound of things - didn't sell you a new harness, didn't sell you a "special food" and didn't persuade you to have your bitch spayed there & then!! I'd be changing my vet I think :D
