Hello all,
I am the proud owner of two 14wk old bull terrier puppies (litter sisters). The decision to have two was not one that was taken lightly and have read all the books and taken onboard advice from the breeder.
However, today i phoned a local puppy walking class to enquire about lessons, to help with obedience but mostly to socialise them. The woman i spoke to was completely horrified that i had two, and that they are sisters. She stated (repeatedly)that the would both turn into snarling viscious dogs, that would not just turn on other dogs but each other.
I am aware of the breeds history and traites. But i was really dissapointed that she had condemned then so easily with nothing positive to say at all.
Please if there is anyone else that also owns two, please please reply
Thanks
Suz

do you really want to go back to be taught how to train your dogs from a person who is so negative . nope i doubt you would .
Ok so you have two young pups we all know having two can be a hugeee handful but hey youve gone down the right path and ended up trying to get into training classes id give this lady a miss and find someone who really wants to help rather then hinder . its been known for 2 who have grown up together to have problems with each other but then again it has also been know for two brought up together to love each other . find someone who is really helpful and train them really well hopefuly things will work out

Just ignor this women, having two is a handful but it sounds like you knew this when doing so and you want to get them to obedience, go somewhere else, there is a VERY, EXTREAMLY tiny chance your bitches will become viscious towards other dogs or eachother, infact sister being brougt up together are more likly to bond with eachother!  This lady you spoke to probs knew nothing, I assume you got your bitches from parents, which as far as you are aware, both have good temperments!

Go and find a new training club if possible, if you can't find an obedinec try a ringcraft, explain you want it for socilisation and just do something with the dogs once aweek or so.

Good luck, if you say which area you are in someone here may be able to help you with a good training club!

Hi Guest, dont be put off by this person.  I have 5 dogs and 2 of them are the same age, not litter mates but only 2 days between them. They are very hard work and you will have to train them seprately AND together, giving them each individual attention so they concentrate on you and not on each other. This also means walking them seperately and together. When my two were younger I gave them 10mins walk each individually and then 10mins walk together. They were also separated at bedtime.   I found our trainer on the apdt site (www.apdt.co.uk) and she has taken myself and my two pups through our KCGC bronze and silver certificates. It can be done. Good luck. One thing to remember, although pups are litter mates, they may respond at different levels.
