Topic Other Boards / Foo / Stupid cat or clever cat?

Is my cat too clever for her own good.?

I need some help here.
We moved house about 5 weeks ago & we have 3 cats (soon to be 4 ... well I'm working on it:-D).
2 of the cats are fine, have adapted really well are enjoying exploring in the huge garden & are happy to come & go.
The other cat however keeps going to our old house. So is she so clever that she keeps remembering her roots & goes home? Or is she too stupid to remember we've moved & does she not realize that when she goes to the old house, thay are different people with different cars / furniture / kids / dog & a different cat!

We keep bringing her back, keeping her in a few days.... letting her out & then off she pops!

What can I do?

Cats are often more rooted to a place than to people (which may be why so many of us like dogs :))
How long did you keep her inside 100% before letting her out?
I'd keep her inside for at least 2 weeks, then only let her out before a meal time (maybe even withhold one meal if she's a full grown adult) so she's really really hungry, then only let her out escorted for short periods before bringing her back in for a meal.........

Cats are never stupid :-D

When we moved, we kept ours in for 2 weeks and they didn't stray.
