Many years ago I used to breed cashmere and mini lop rabbits and was always spot on in telling their sex by the time they were 6 weeks old - better than my vet who insisted my boy mini was a female

A friend has asked me to sex her baby netherland dwarfs (which were produced from what the man in the petshop said were definitely two girls  ) they are 5 weeks old and I popped round last night to look and to be honest although I can remember the difference between sexes (one is pointy and one is tubular) I cant remember which is which   anyway I looked at these bunnies last night and they all looked the same   they were all pointy with a slit  as they are only 5 weeks and very tiny I said I would have another look in a couple of weeks in the hope that there are some champdoggers out there who know the difference

I feel such a muppet :D :D

Does this help?

It might if I could access it from work, it obviously contains the word sex ( ) so the firewall stops it   I will nip down to the internet cafe later and have a look, thank you :)

hello i have been breeding netherland dwarfs and dwarf lops for years and i can tell what they are going to be deppending on there size from about 3 weeks old but i will not sell any of mine before 6 weeks and all my pet shops (pets at home) wont sell untill the rabbits are 8 weeks and babies shouldnt really leave the mother untill they are 6 weeks. anyway to tell the sex of the baby rabbit if its a male you should get a very small cylinder that seperates from the bum and point upwards this will b more notcieable when the bunny gets to 8 weeks and a femal has a slopeing slit and looks like it is attached to the bum and only the tip sticks up in a point not the hole thing like the boys. sorry couldnt describe it very well lol but i have been breeding for years and you just get used to the difference. hope that helped.

thanks Mark, that is as I thought - it was just getting it round the right way :D :D :D  I will check them again at 8 weeks but from the look of it they are all girls.

I never sold my baby bunnies before 8 weeks either ........ I was reluctant to sell them even then ;) but only ever sold them privately or through the pet shop in which I worked so I knew where they all went and the people buying them knew they could come back to me with any problems :)
