Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Breeding Licence

I now have 4 bitch's and 1 dog, it looks like i might be moving to a bigger house with land with a view to expanding the dog breeding business/hobby. When do I need to apply for a licence? before I get any more dogs? or can it be done afterwards? There doesn't seem to be much point in applying for one at my present address, but I need to know the in's and outs before I proceed, does anybody know what is involved and how long it takes?
I will be moving to South Yorkshire, does the procedure differ from council to council.
The property I am buying is a registerd small holding, currently has hens and mushrooms too, will I have to apply for change of use? There are currently hen breeding huts(very big twice that of a garage) which have heating and drainage, could these be converted to satisfy the regs?
All my dogs are firstly much loved pets, so they get the best of everything, however I am still a little worried about applying for a licence.

Hi westiworld,

I have looked a little into this as I would like to go in this direction in a few years, it seems to be each council has its rules but they should provide and list of there requirements on request.

Converting seems to be ok but will not allow sheds/buildings with only a plank of wood between the dogs and the outside world as temp is hard to regulate and virus and such like can hide in wood and its almost impossible to remove( please correct me if wrong guys ) this info came from breeder and local council, and i am sure not fool proof

The building has a concrete floor, not much timber as I remember, I think I need to find a contact number for the Council.
Thanks
