Well, you`ve asked this just at the right time.  Rally season is just upon us with one of the first southern rallies being held this weekend at Kings Forest, Thetford. Having to travel a couple of hours to a rally is something that we all quickly get used to. After that you have a choice from the Night Rally in Cheshire, Wyre Forest, Bracknell, Hampshire, Wales the list goes on.

Best thing to do is join the SHCGB and get access to the membership list.  Here you can identify people close to you who may train in your area.  You could also put a post on the Members only bulletin board to see who is around.

Rallies also provide a good starting point to have a chat to people and get into the whole thing!

I`m in Weston Super Mare, so a bit far for you however there will be some rallies your way soon. Go to www.snopeak.com for a list of all the upcoming rallies and their locations.

What ages are they????

Regards

Some train lightly from 6 months onwards, others prefer to wait until 8-10months or even 12 months.  We trained ours lightly from 9 months old.

The best bet is to attend a rally and get chatting.  Besides the pups will enjoy a good day out romping in the forest and will no doubt enjoy the overall atmosphere.  The first training session we went at watched, our dogs were four months old, and they got really worked up and howled along with the rest of the training group.  Its good experience anyway for them to see other dogs run off as they tend to get an "idea" of what is expected from them when it is their turn.

regards

If you look at the Snopeak site that Liz pointed you to earlier, check the current season - it'll give you a concise list of rallies for the season and their location :)

And yes, you can take pups along as soon as they have completed their injections - it's a great place to socialise them and yourselves. You get to meet a group of fantastic people and everyone will be willing to offer you advice and answer your questions. Rallies are run at weekends, so if you have a spare couple of days, I'd suggest going along :)

oh and forgot to say its never too early to start teaching them the basic gee (right) and haw (left) commands when out walking.
