Hi All,
I wonder if anyone has any ideas.
Today about lunchtime we were watching tv and my 9 year old Golden Retriever came for a fuss and started to drool excessively from one side of her mouth in perticular,[but both sides are really wet] and constantly lick her lips.
Ive checked her teeth, mouth and tongue.[all ok],she hasnt been eating anything and hasnt chewed anything.
Its most strange and i cant think whats the matter,so any ideas would be welcome,as she is now wet all down her front.
Many thanks Jonelle
Have you looked in the roof of her mouth - sometimes dogs get things stuck between their upper teeth almost in the roof of their mouths) and you can't see unless you really look.
Other causes may be feeling sick - has she tried to be sick at all and does her stomach look distended - if so get her to the vet immediately as could be bloat.
Can't think of anything else at the moment
No she hasnt tried to be sick and she isnt distended but i will check her mouth again.
Thanks

She couldn't have got hold of a toad could she? Other than that, it sounds like teeth. Does she seem to have any pain if you touch her gums?

Hi,
Are you possitive she has not put her mouth in anything she shouldn't have .
My first thoughts also would have been toad or frogs which can cause this.
Last time one my Goldies had this problem was when she came back from a walk and all her front was wet from drool but it was slightly blood stained as well.
It appeared she had cut herself between her back teeth on some grass or stubble from the fields.Unless of course your dog may have a small ulcer .
Doesn't clear by tomorrow get a vet to check your dog out.

Still plenty of wasps around which can sting around or even in the mouth. Usually there is a swelling but that, depending on the position of the sting is not always the case.

I havnt seen any toads but i suppose anythings possible as being a Goldie shes a canine dustbin and thinks anything is game to eat.
If it had been one of my boy pointers i would have said definately as they are mesmerised by frogs and think they are to play patacake with.[naughty boys]
I will monitor her carefully overnight and see what shes like in the morning, and if still the same we will take a trip to the vet.
Thankyou for all your help, its so worrying when something just happens out of the blue.
Regards jonelle
