We are on our second weimaraner Duke lasted 14 years and gave us a lot of pleasure, we now have blue a 5 month old dog Blue with an undershot jaw poor chap !! He is fantasic, we are considering having another this time, a bitch ( not to breed from ) At what age do you suggest we introduce a second dog and would a young rescue up to two years be ok or would a new puppy be a better idea.

I would suggest that you wait until your current pup is at least 18 months to 2 years old. The reason for this is that he's yet to go through his adolescence, and it may take a lot of your time and attention - additionally you don't want him teaching the new dog any unwanted behaviour through this time.
A rescue would be a lovely idea - but try and maximise the differences between the two dogs, so there is a smaller chance of struggles over position. For instance a confident 2 year old bitch who likes her humans as much as I hope your boy does is not going to be as good a match as a slightly less confdent 1 year old whose toy obsessed........

great name blue,my 5month old flatcoat got the same name too

Please do not get another Weimaraner until your male is at least 18 months old, preferably older. IME males are not really "finished" until 3 years old.
If you want a second one then choose a bitch, NOT another male. Get this one trained before you bring anything new into the equation.
Just to add on to what tohme says, when you are ready for a rescue dog, if you decide to contact Independent Weimaraner Rescue & Re-homing Service (I.W.R.R.S.) you won't be allowed another male anyway. It is our policy not to rehome male weimaraners with other male dogs for numerous reasons. What we will do is, following paperwork and a homecheck, match you up with a bitch that we feel will get on well with your current dog and fit in with your current lifestyle :-)
