lily is now 15 months old and she is still not fully housetrained. we had a lot of problems with a few house moves and not having a proper garden for a while which seemed to delay things but i thought it should have been sorted by now. if we let her out every half hour and watch her to make sure she wees we are ok, but if she needs the loo and no one lets her out immediately she just wees wherever she is rather than holding on for a few minutes or letting us know she needs to go out. i always clean up any accidents immediately when she isn't looking with a biological washing solution, and i praise her immensely when she does go to the toilet in the correct place, but she still doesn't seem to understand the concept of only weeing outside (she never poos inside).
does anyone have any ideas what i should be doing and where i'm going wrong ? she did have a urine infection when she was younger which was treated, but she is fine now.
thanks

I would start from scratch again ...take her out every 15 minutes and stay out with her, give her a word to latch on to, we use *Hurry up* and use that every time you take her out. When she performs, plenty of praise and possibly a treat. If she has an accident, clean it up and say nothing.
She needs to relearn that you want her to go for a pee etc outside .....she won;t take long as long as you make sure you TAKE her out , don;t just put her out ;)

At 14 months, Barney is just as bad and has had none of the possible set-backs that Lily has had, so has no excuses!! He is however, very obstinate and seems to like to 'pay me back' if I do something he doesn't approve of (like eating my dinner in another room), by 'performing' in the house. I just have to take him out time and time again to catch him as he gives absolutely no indication sometimes of when he needs to go out - no sniffing, no circling, just does it. I'm hoping that he will grow out of it, if I persevere with the 'back to basics' stuff. I'm afraid I have no advice to give, but you have my sympathy and you are not alone with this problem.
Good Luck

Back to basics is the best way! :)
back to basics.
plus do you let her know that when you do catch her in the act of weeing inside that you are not happy?
plus i would use something stronger than bio washing up just to make sure the scent is fully gone from the area.
i do actually go outside with her (which is superfun with the weather ! :D )
i've been using the method of ignoring her bad things and praising her good things - though this is difficult as i am temporarily living with my parents and i think they tell her off when she does something bad - so i imagine she's getting very confused, but my parents ignore me when i tell them what i'm trying to do with her.
It might be that your parents are muckingup the housetraining if they tell her off as she may avoid going if they are there due to uncertainty...maybe.
Do you give her a titbit and a command word too?
I used to go outside with Banya and as she actually performed, gave her a very tasty bit of cheese and said "quickie", and "good quickie" and now she will go on command (if she can) which is very useful at times. If she can't go, she does a beautiful pretend "dip" which is very sweet :D
