How do you know at 6 months that your dog is good enough to use for stud? has he won shows etc?  has he had all the relevant health checks?  Just remember any 'bad points' the pups may have will come back to you as well as the bitch!  If he's a pet, then leave him as a pet, you may change his temperament once used for stud work.

Have a read of the first post at the top of the 'Breeding' Forum on this site. Remember that only about 10% of pedigree animals are of suitable breeding quality.

He can be used AFTER he has has all relvent health checks done, and the bitch should have also had them done.  The bitch should be about 2 yrs old and preferbly the male over the same age for me personally!

As yourself WHY do you want to breed from him?  Are you prepared to take on responcibility for the puppies?  His benhaviour is likly to change aswell, he may come more dominant towards other dogs and be a bigger pain when he senses a bitch in season.

Also do his lines go well with the bitches lines, do they compliment eachother?  etc
