It's one of my best friends 40ths coming up and I am swithering over the gift.  Now I know you don't know her, but she's one of these people that's got everything and is hard to buy for.  She collects elephants and I thought about some jewellery with elephants on.

OK, so I've seen a lovely jade bracelet all in the shape of elephants and also a lovely gemset silver bracelet along the same lines.  Both really nice.  My funds are a bit limited and one is £25 and one is £50.  I don't want to appear tight and I think both are really lovely.  I could afford either one although £50 is my absolute maximum and will limit my drinks on the big day (:D).  If you were receiving, which would you prefer.

I think my friend would like either but she spent tons on me when it was my birthday and she's always been really good to me, so which do I go for?  Decisions decisions.

Silver is "in" at the moment, but I think she will appreciate whatever you get for her as it is "the thought that counts" ;)

Hi

If it were me i would much rather have my friend with me on the day not having to worry about if she has enough money or not. It's about being there for friends not how much you spend.  If funds are limited i would go for the £25 so you have more to spend while you are out with her and that way you both enjoy it more. She is your best friend she isn't going to think you are tight she will just be glad you are there for her birthday. IMHO anyway

yep! nicc is right!
£25 is a very respectable amount to spend anyway,i wouldnt really be spending more than that on any of my friends (as much as i love them!)

yep I totally agree with that too!!  I'd much rather have my best friend out with me on my birthday without having to worry about pennies.

The £25 bracelet sounds lovely and if she loves elephants then I'm sure she'll love that!!

Also, when you get into the expensive gift buying thing it can end up being a bit of a nightmare.  Friend then feels obligated to spend the same amount on you and then you have to spend the same amount on her again and it goes on and on......!!

I'm sure she'll love it and will love having you out to celebrate too!!  :D

If it's given with love, I am sure she will be delighted with whatever you give her, no matter how much you spend on it-as they say, it's the thought that counts! :)

Thank you all - I agree my friend will like either one if its from me.  I'm fussing too much as usual :D  I have decided to go for the jade one (less expensive), in red jade.  It is really nice and I'm sure it will be a success.
