Hi

Dont want to sound thick but thinking of buying a puppy I would eventually like to show (if she meets the std that is) and was just wondering what actually happens at these shows.  What does the bitch/dog have to do???

Thanks
T

The dog will have to be handled by the handler (normally the owner).  They will be expect to stand and move in a trot.  If you have never shown before I suggest that you go to afew shows before hand and see what happends for youself, get a feel for showing and also talk to people in the breed you are looking into.

The question doesn't make you sound thick, at least you want to learn!  Also what breed are you thinking of going into?

If you haven't found the Dalmatian Club website have a look at http://www.britishdalmatianclub.org.uk and http://www.lancedal.demon.co.uk.  Both are a very useful source for information.

You are right to research the dog first.  Do make sure you buy from a reputable breed who hearing tests their pups.  The lancedal website has a puppy list of club members so would be a good place to start.

It would be good for you to go to a Championship show on Utility day to see the Dalmatians and how they are shown.   If you let us know in what area you live we can point you to your nearest one, although there are not too many around at this time on year unless you live in the midlands.

Good Luck
Sandra
