I just wanted to let everyone who helped come up with a name for our hamster Biscuit know that she died in her sleep yesterday afternoon. We hadnt even had her a week so it was very sudden and as you can imagine very upsetting. Poor little thing was only eight weeks old. Thanks to all who suggested a name for her.

So sorry to hear that :(  Its always heartbreaking when a pet passes, especially when they're that young!  Did you get her from a pet shop?  Large ones will usually have some sort of guarantee on the pets they sell to try and avoid causing upset like this-poor little thing :( :( :(

So sorry to hear about your little girl - now matter how small they are, they still leave a little hole don't they? :(

I'm sure you probably know to check for this, but are you sure the hamster is dead? If they get too chilled they go into hibernation, and many 'dead' hamsters have been found alive and well in the dustbin. I myself, as a child, had one that emerged from the grave!

  @  Jeangenie!!  I had hamsters when i was younger-maybe should have checked them a bit more carefully!!  Although, the last one I had drowned-he chewed a hole in his house and fell in the sink-the guilt was incredibly immense!!  I just gave up with hamsters after him... :(

When I was a child my mother discovered my brothers hamster had died.  We were due to go out so she put him in a small box by the side of the dustbin ready for a ceremonial burial later on that day.  Whilst out, someone mentioned that hamsters do hibernate and sure enough, when we returned home, he was live and kickin'!!!

Please double check!

No she's definately gone - she was extremely cold and we couldn't hear or feel a heartbeat. Thanks for all the kind messages - we buried her under a buddlia bush we bought.
