Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / Head collar?
- By Guest [gb] Date 11.10.04 11:54 UTC
I own two large breed dogs (Malamutes) and am looking at the possibility of using some sort of head collar on them for when I walk them together. At the moment I just have a standard collar on them (webbing with a buckle) and if they see a squirrel or other small animal (rabbit/pheasant etc) it can be hard to hold them both sometimes (together they weigh a fair bit more than I do). They are brilliant to walk otherwise and both are great with other dogs (so far!). I don't wish to start using semi choke/check collars even though I do have a cushioned semi slip collar for my elder dog (which never gets used). If I was walking them separately (or my partner was with me) I would continue to use a standard collar though. Does anyone have any suggestions as to which head collar would be best?

Hi

I recently got a dogmatic leather head collar for my newfie and its great (I think other mal owners on this site reccommended it when I did a search on head collars) if you put in dogmatic into a search engine it should come up with it. I ordered mine on line from a place in south Wales and their service was great and they had good pictures on their site so you can give it a good look before you decide.

I have Malamutes and use a dogmatic on the older one with no problems. Other people use other headcollars though :)
