While having a belly run last night my bitch rolled over and her fur parted. I noticed a bald patch about the size of an old 50p on her hip surrounded by really rough flakey dark skin. Any ideas what this could be?
Im thinking it could be wheat gluten allergy, in which case she is going straight back onto lamb and rice food. But, what if it isnt that. it could be some kind of thyroid problem, sarcoptic mange, or worse.
I was wndering what size of a vet bill im in for and if anyone has any kind of idea as to what it could be?

With skin problems it can be any of those you have mentioned (one you missed out was ringworm) or lots of others.

Your vet is the best person to take a look and advise you on what course of action to take next.

Do you use AOL - if so take a look in the FAQ's section as I think there is some advise there
