We recently bread our female boxer. (with a purebread) When she delivered on Oct. 5 , two pups are solid white.I have never seen a solid white boxer. Is this possible?
- By ice_queen Date 10.10.04 16:15 UTC
Yes and very common!  Whites come up in litters due to the colour genes.  They are very highly at risk of going deff and blind aswell has other health problems, they can come out of two extremly healthy dogs (and of course I assume your bitch and the dog were eye, hip and heart tested at least!?)

Whites will normally come if you use two dogs both with alot of white (flashyness) in their background.

Yes it is possible to get pure white boxer puppies. I am pretty sure they are usually deaf, but I am not an expert on boxers. I am sure somebody here will be along with better information than I can give. Join us to ask more questions, and maybe the boxer experts on here will be able to help you further.

"Is this possible?"
Certainly because you've done it!!

It's very easy to produce defective puppies if you don't know what it behind the dog and bitch that are mated together.

'It's very easy to produce defective puppies' im sorry but in what way is a white boxer defective? do you actually even know anything about them? the original, first ever 'boxer' was white, yes it is true they can often be deaf, but boxers in general are very often deaf and have lots of health problems.

to get back to the point of this topic, yes its possible and perfectly normal for there to be a white puppy or several. although because of stupid boxer standards they can not be shown they are still perfectly good dogs and are often extreamly intelligent (far more so than colored boxers) and extreamly agile which makes them perfect agility dogs.

but also, why did u breed when u dont appear to know much about boxers? wouldnt be by any chance to make some 'easy money'?

Polly, any puppy which has health problems, whether it's hereditary deafness, HD, cataracts, CEA, heart problems etc, is a 'defective' puppy. As was said, it's very easy to produce puppies with health problems, which is why reputable breeders do all they can to avoid adding to the problem, by ensuring only healthy stock is bred from.

Thank you JG!  You've saved me a post. :D

How can colour decide on how agile or intelligent a dog is, OK I know people say blonds are dumb and brunettes are smart, but this isn't really the case is it?  just because of the colour doesn't effect mind, it may affect coat lengh and texture but thats about it.  Infact isn't one of the top obedience boxers a red???

Yes, solid white boxers are surprisingly common. They are at much greater risk than solid colours of having hereditary deafness, so they will need to be BAER tested prior to sale.

Am I right in thinking that they do BAER testing in the USA? I am guessing from the spelling of the word 'colour' and other words used that the guest is in the States

Yes they do. That's where it started.

As everyone has said...its possible and definately not uncommon...we have 2 live locally.
Most breeders sell white boxer pups for LESS than their colour counterparts since they are incorrect as far as the breed standard is concerned and hence cannot be shown and should not be bred from

White Boxers are not rare. When breeding two flashy Boxers together the chances are that 25% of the resulting pups will be white. White Boxers have a greater incidence of deafness and may be more susceptible to skin problems. Other than that they are no different to coloured Boxers. They are certainly not more intelligent or more agile.
