we would like to know the exact vaccinations and paperwork required to take him to germany with us and any more useful tips on owning a mal :)
cheers lee and tash

I think you need to go back to the breeder. I know I have a "not for export" endorsement on my pedigrees but I'm not sure what that means exactly as I've never wanted to export a dog! I'm sure breeders on here will know the meaning :)
If you are planning on coming back to the UK, you will need to comply with the pet passport scheme which takes a few months I believe :)

we will bring him back in the future but we are staying in germany and we will get him his passport but what do we need to do b4 we leave uk

If you are sure that the pedigree is not marked as 'Not for export' (both of my Malamutes pedigrees are marked like that) , then I presume the info you need will all be here
Defra:)
This might be helpful.

thank you all for your help the breeder says he is ok to be exported and i am just double checking about paperwork but he is not three months so i believe its just chipped passport and health certificate
after we get him over here we would like to join a mal club do you know anyone who can help

There are two main Malamute clubs in the UK ..there is the
AMCUK and also
AMWAYou can email me for any further info :)

I've just found
this too.

He will have to have a health cert & rabies jabs before he does I think the youngest a dog can have these done by is 12/13 weeks When I sent my friends BCs & Cavaliers they have been at least 12 weeks old, they were going to live permanently with German friends in Germany

We would just like to thank everybody for their help and advice with exporting Loki (mal) to Germany. We will also keep everyone informed of his continued progress.
One last question... We are very interested in the showing Loki, but we have absolutely no idea where to begin, would you suggest spectating at the shows to begin with or is there another method to become involved?

Ringcraft classes and then visit some shows that have Mally classes (more and more Open shows have them now) you will be able to check out which shows by buying Dog World or Our Dogs :)

I exported 2 schipperke puppies to Germany a couple of yrs back and they had to have their first vaccination, were microchipped and a rabies shot at 12 wks then they were not allowed into Germany any earlier than 30 days post Rabies vaccination, so the earliest they could arrive in Germany was 16 wks old.
For showing purposes you need a UK Export pedigree to register them at the Germany Kennel Club this is £40 and if a male is involved you have to get a vet to sign the application to say that both testes are present ------ I've just had to do this to send my champion over to the USA for showing in my name still cost me £40 and the dogs coming back soon lol. I'd ask your UK breeder/Kennel club if they know of any breed clubs in Germany or a breeder they have contact with who can get you started once you're over there.
YOu only need a passport to bring the dog back to the UK, I would advise you start that about a yr before you plan to return in case the titre test on the rabies vaccination does not come back high enough to issue a passport needing a second vaccination and retest.
