Help...........I have just come back from holiday with 70 photo's on a Sony memory card, we played the card though the television, no problem, then for some reason it would not load onto my computer.

When I put it back into the camera it kept bleeping with a message saying 'Not Formatted'. Did the same through the television.

Putting it back into the computer and opening it through 'My Computer' also says the disc needs formatting.

Has anyone had this happen or can anyone tell me if there is any hope of getting my photo's off or have I lost them all :(

It sounds like your tv has changed the format of picture...........sadly I lost a whole holidays worth of pictures the same way.  Do you have a Sony computer  maybe that would recognise it?

Hubby agrees with Sharon ...sounds like the TV has reformatted the disc and coruputed it :(

Do you know anybody with a Sony computer that you might be able to try reading the memory stick?  Not sure if will work but maybe worth a try

Oh dear, I didn't think it sounded too good. The TV is Sony the computer isn't although OH tried it on his Sony laptop and it came up the same.

We went on a cruise too, not something we will be able to repeat for a long time. :(

I suppose it could have been worse........it could have been my Crufts Photo's (Don't tell Hubby I said that)

Thanks for your replies anyway.

We brought a memory card reader costs around £15 to £20
got it from a camera shop and all we do is plug it into a usb port
and as were running windows Xp we didnt need to load the software.
It might be worth trying for the sake of a few pounds.

You could try taking your  memory card to a boots as they now have a
printing booth thingy that you just put your memory card it and it
prints the pics direct.

Thanks Carolyn, but I don't think that would work as my computer should be able to do the same, I just plug the memory card straight into a port on the computer.  The computer is fine as I have tested it on another card we had.

I am waiting on Sam, I haven't heard about what she has mentioned, hopefully that will be worth trying.

Hi Sandra,
If I were you I would NOT try anything else with your memory card yourself.   Take it to a 'GOOD' camera shop, explain to them what has happened, and see if they can help you.

Alternatively, a much better idea, book yourself another cruise and retake the pictures.

Happy Sailing,

That's what I was going to say :) Whatever you do, DON'T re-format and don't try anything else, just get it to a GOOD digital developing firm and see if they can retrieve the information :)

Thanks I will try that.

I went into the Sony shop today and they didn't hold out much hope but suggested I tried Sony Customer Services on Monday as they may have come accross it before.

Fingers crossed x

as everyone else has already said - dont do anything else to the card such as formatting

however DO try this program

it should get your pictures back for you

Ziggar

YOU ARE A STAR, I tried the program and I now have my photos safely stored on my computer and on disk.

If you are male, I love you, want to marry you and have your babies :D :D  If you are female then a huge thank you will have to do.

Sandra (who is now a very happy bunny)

It never ceases to amaze me the knowledge that can be got from Champdoggers :)

Glad to have helped

I know just how frustrating it can be when you lose stuff from hard drives or memory cards
