I think my dog, Rudi, ate part of a day lily plant this morning and he's had a mucousy poo probably less then two hours later.
Although the reason could well be unrelated to garden snacking, it made me wonder how long it takes for food (or items ingested) to pass through the digestive track from mouth to rear. And could something ingested only an hour or so beforehand actually cause the above symptom?
We often blame a new food treat or a new food for digestive upset - I suspect sometimes they are unrelated and it's just a coincidence. However, I have no idea when it clearly is unrelated and when it isn't.

(Yesterday Rudi also ripped the stuffing out a soft toy .. and although I think I got it all he could have eaten some before I noticed. That is a potential culprit as well.)
