Are antibiotics prescribed by vets, the same as those given to humans? Also is it worth considering a probiotic, following a course of antibiotics? Spice has just been prescribed 3 more days on her antibiotics following mastitis,as the vet wishes to ensure the infection is thoroughly clear.
Thanks,
Jacqueline :)

One should ALWAYS give probiotics during and after antibiotic use so that the gut is repopulated by friendly bacteria.

Thanks to the European Commission - "At present, only a limited number of generic products are authorised for veterinary use. However, the numbers are expected to increase as the ten-year protection periods for data submitted in support of applications for authorisations for branded products expire. Products authorised for human use, whether generics or not, may only be used in accordance with the cascade when there is no authorised veterinary product. In particular, cost is not a suitable reason for selecting a human product."
In truth many authorised veterinary medicinal products are generic (and cheap) human drugs with a smart new authorised veterinary names, smart new packages and smarting new prices.
basically yes.
same typeso f pencillins like amoxicillin are used and fungicidals
i think the dosage is just according to dog size but basically its same dosage for kids as for humans i think.
