Are there any requirements/rules in obtaining your own affix ?

The main rules are, the word used as an affix MUST be unique, and it must have no more than 12 letters. Go to the Kennel Club website, and download an application to register an affix. It costs £70 to register the affix and to maintain it for the first year. You will have to submit three different words for consideration. The KC will contact you quickly if none of the words are acceptable, and you will have to submit three more till you come up with an accepable choice. I got my fifth choice, but I know someone who didn't get lucky till they had offered more than 30 different words. So it isn't easy to be original.
