Walking the kids to school this morning, I got a tag along. One of those kids that walks to school on their own, and tags along with whoever is around.
He had been talking to some lads in the first year of secondary school. This lad was in year 6.
He was on about the fact that one of the lads gave him money, because he saved his life.
what transpires was(not sure how much to believe but.... He has a Mastiff at home, and his mate stared the Mastiff in the eyes. The Mastiff went for his mate and got him on his forehead. The lad then told me he had to grab hold of the mastiffs collar, pull him off, kick him in the ribs, open the door and kick him out of the door :O  This was from a 10 year old kid. He is not meant to tell anyone as his dog would have to be put down as it has tasted human blood so is kept outside and his mum does not want to muzzle it.
He also said his uncle and dad (he never sees his dad) has dogs trained to fight other dogs.
I did say things about not hitting dogs as it is cruel. That it is illegal for anyone to train dogs to fight other dogs etc.
He then went to his class room. And I told my son not to hang around with him, hopefully James wont. But he is moving down to Kettering near London(is there such a place) so his step dad can be nearer work.
I do hope he goes as quickly as possible.
What a conversation to be having with a child on the way to school!!!!!!

Sounds like a fantasy to me ;)

Well, I did wonder that,Well, there were quite a few things I did discount and told him that he was telling a good story, BUT it is still bad that a 10 year old would fantasies about things like that :( :(
And the awful thing is, Alot of it might well be true!!!!!! (I think I got the gist of where abouts he lives by the things he was saying and it is not exactly the most desirable area :( )

Kettering is near Northampton, so I suppose depending where you live now it could be nearer London ;)

I was answering this Melody, I dont know which town you or Lea live in but if its in Lincolshire then I assume Kettering will be nearer to London than you - but then my geography isnt all that ;)

Well Melody, it isnt down the obvious one, it is down the other one!!!!! LOL (Melody knows what I am talking about!!!!)
And I didnt think there were 2 Ketterings in England. And know for a fact Kettering is only an hour away from here, so an hour away from London. Very strange!!!!!!!

The "taste of human blood" thing is a bit over the top but maybe the parents told him that...as for the rest of it, it's feasible, why not? There are dog fighters and someone has to train the poor animals... :(

I wouldn't know what to believe but I was curious about something.

Will a Mastiff really attack any person if stared directly into its eyes?

If this is true, how do Mastiff owners and lovers look into their pet's eyes and read what the dog has to say and all that good stuff that dog's eyes are meant to do?

Sibeluver...... if you stare ANY dog that you dont know well, in the eyes in an aggressive fashion, they may well not take it particularly well. My dogs will quite happily stare into my eyes all day long.......

But to be honest, if a child did that to Rocky, and was quite 'cocky' or 'arrogant' with it, they may well get barked at at the very least!

Its an aggressive 'challenge' and one some dogs will take more seriously than others.

Kettering is in Northamptonshire. about 80+ miles from London, and there used to be quite a lot of dog fighting at one time at on old disused airfield just outside, this was brocken up about 7 years ago when we lived in a village just up the road from the airfield, we have moved over towards Peterbrough now so do not know if it could have started up again.
