Thanks for the helpful comments and advice from everyone who replied to my previous message.  I am using the strategies from the website(thome), good so far. 

I do keep the children away from pup when sleeping etc.  They keep their toys upstairs so no problems there.  Pup is generally gorgeous and a great character.

What do call your little monster? Mine is Arthur. I also have Rosebud and as mad as it gets I have a springer spaniel called Jack Spangle.

Yes, Polly - we're gluttons for punishment , aren't we?    Stanley is a little older than Arthur (he's 15 months now), and we try not to let him gang up with his sister Beech, who is the original little dolly bird who can do no wrong.   Stanley, however, has gained quite a reputation in training classes........
