Nothing seems to help.Only one of my dogs is scared but he makes so much noise that he starts the rest off.I also block of all windows so he carnt see the flashing. neighbours are very good, but I would hate to live next door to me,at this time of year. Ireally wish fireworks were baned at least it should stop after 11pm!!! anymore ideas please
There is a course of medication that your dog can go on prior to fireworks night. Obviously, this would only be an option if your dogs reaction is very severe. Panting, bolting, shaking etc. This was recommended to me by a colleague who is also a behaviourist. He is able to write a letter to your vet who will then issue the tablets if he agrees it is the best/last available option. Apparently it is best used combined with one of the Fireworks CD's that are available - which one do you use out of interest?
We are considering using the medication on one of my dogs, as he is terrified of any loud noises, bangs etc.
If you PM I can send you the information, which I have about this. :)
Firework night is bad enough....but at least we know what to expect. What I find annoying is that now they are letting them off all year round.....birthdays/passing exams/new years eve/weddings ect. They are so loud that they make me jump and the dogs are getting quite neurotic especially if I am walking them at night and they hear a loud bang....then tail between their legs and they can't get home quick enough!!! I don't want to spoil anyones enjoyment....but I wish they would think of the poor animals!!!
