i am getting a staff in a month or so it will be 8 weeks by then, and i was wandering what is the best food to feed it with, what i mean is, is dry food better than normal tin dog food, what would you recomend, i want the dog to have a well balanced diet and want it to get used not to eating all the kids left overs if you know what i mean.

Our puppy is feed on scrmabled egg mixed with one or two sardines and some crushed up terrier mix for his breakfast. Lunch/morning snack is JWB which is soaked in water but you can use other foods or even try puppy pedigree if you like and for dinner we usually try to give him some boiled chicken (no bones) with some Evergreen vitamin supplement added to it. How you feed the puppy is completely up to you though and you may find that you have to try two or three things before you find a formula that works. Good luck!

eders
you should get a diet sheet from the breeder when you collect your puppy.Follow the breeders advise since a sudden change in diet will cause problems. If you are not happy with the diet the breeder has advised I would wait till the puppy has settles in before I changed it....a couple of weeks at least. You could then change the diet to which ever you chose but you should do it GRADUALLY to avoid your new puppy get an upset tummy

no one told me this until i was in the dogs for some time.but for staffys and irish and bull and terrier type dogs it is very beneficial to give a table spoon or 2 of sesame oil it really prevents some skin discrepencies in the dogs and cures them.in the past where i have used all types of expensive vet products and sesame oil seemed to do the best.note i am no way condoning substituting actual medicine but advocating use this as a supplement to their diet.

sesame seed oil, like safflower, flaxseed, evening primrose, borage, sunflower seed oil is a mainly polyunsaturated vegetable oil and a source of linoleic acid an EFA however IMHO Fish Body Oil is a better source of Omega 3s which most commercial foods are lacking as they are so cereal heavy and Omega 6 weighted.

I'd feed Burns any day, its natural and very digestible so less to clean up!
Our 10 week retriever loves it and the only other food she gets is a little cooked rice and (to save our hands getting over-chewed) a pigs ear!
You can buy burns online (www.burns-pet-nutrition.co.uk) or from pet shiops. The have a great free helpline as well (numbers on the website)
