Does anyone have experience of adopting a dog from a breed rescue centre? I would like to know how long the whole process takes from enquiring to adopting the dog.
I made my enquiry two weeks ago and still haven't heard anything, is this normal?
I already have a  dog, so how will it work? Will I have to visit the rescue centre with my dog and walk them to see how they get on?
Any advice appreciated.

Hiya spotty dog!
Last Christmas I adopted Wheeler (my whippet x collie) from a breed rescue and they were great about it! When they looked around our house they recommended Wheeler to us (they have a ''match the dog to the owner'' process) and it took her about two and a half weeks before she told us to come and visit so that's probably whats going on with you too! Im sure they havnt forgotten you as their always on the look out for new owners as they have so many dogs wanting to come in. They'll probably give you an appointment time (so you can view all the dogs privately) and Im sure they'll tell you to bring your dog the first time or not (we had to visit wheeler a few times before we got him!)
I love hearing about people adopting dogs as I think it's a great thing to 'give a dog another chance!' I couldn't imagine life without wheeler! What breed rescue have you gone for?
Good luck! Im sure they'll reply soon :)

Dalmatian, I'm getting impatient. I think I'll give it till the middle of the week & chase it up.

I adopted copper via a rescue centre although the guy that had him before me kept him at his house, rather than have him put in the centre.  It took no time.  I got the number from the centre one weekend, phoned up the man that had copper and arranged to see him the next weekend.  We went down to his place, had a chat, he seemed happy with us, we loved copper and we took him home, then made the donation to the centre.

I'd phone them again and ask them how you progress your interest in the dog - it shows them you're really keen to have him/her.

Hi spottydog, did your council allow you more than one dog in the end then, and how did you change their mind? We have been waiting an age to adopt an SBT for the simple reason there are none ready for adoption in our area at the moment. Could this be the trouble with dalmatian rescue - its a connoeissours breed after all.

I look on the website daily and there are 4-5 which in my opinion seem suitable. I'll just have to sit and wait.
