Bella our weim puppy (11 months) is at the vets for the night, needing lots of TLC and stiches :( . At about 4.30 every day i feed the dogs at work, i always wait for them to finish eating before i leave just incase there are any squabbles, anyway tonight i feed the dogs wait for them to finish walk across the yard to my van (about 80 ft away from kennels) close van up ready to go to the boarding kennels to feed the dogs we have there, shut the yard gate put the chain round and lock them, strat back to the van only to hear screaming, go running back to yard takes me what seems forever to open gates run to kennel block only to find that Freya our GSP bitch (2 years) has Bella up in the air beating the *$%* out of her, i manage to get kennel door open and pull Bella out who is know screaming in fear, calm her down and check her over she has several puncture wounds and a tear on her front legs Freya not a scratch, By the time i get Bella to vets she has thankfully stopped bleeding but is very scared and nervy and has now got to spend the night as she had only eaten half an hour before hand.
Please send hugs for Bella as she feeling very sorry for herself :(

Poor Bella. Hope she is better soon. Has Freya shown a dislike of her before ?
Oh, poor bella. I don't think I would trust the bitches to be put back together after this, as it seems, to me, that you may have a very serious problem :( .Not just a case of the older bitch putting the younger one in her place. When the older one is just proving a point she doesn't normally try to kill the younger one. This sounds more than just a play for dominance. Take care.
bella and freya are normally kennelled together, they are also exercised together and if we have to double up when transporting they are crated together, unfortunely freya recently has been having ago at a few of the dogs, so we are contemplating on rehoming her :( (with no other dogs of course) to an experienced home, as had it have happened just 1 minute later i would have left and either me inthe morning would have found bella seriously hurt or worse :( or my bosses BIL who is living on site would have found her when he got in from work probably in the state mentioned above, lots of thinking and discussions about Freya are heading our way, which is a shame as Freya is a lovely dog, but it could have been so much worse :(

well bella is back home, she has more punctures then a first realised, she has a tear which is an inch in length and required 7 stitches and is feeling very sorry for herself esp as she has a lampshade on to stop her getting the stitches,
freya on the other hand is unfortunely in boarding kennels :( away from the other dogs, and unfortunely she bit another of the bitches on the way to the kennels in the van, they were in ajoining crates and she managed to get her face, Melyn has just a scratch, but it does look as if freya has decided that she is topdog amoungst all dogs and nobody is going to tell her otherwise :(

Has Freya been checked by the vet? She could be ill without it being obvious, it could be hormonal, brain problem, other physical problem or Bella being a weim pup may simply have gone too far too many times and pushed her beyond her limit ( my bro's weim pup was a nightmare at 11 months and would pester the older one mercilessly until he stepped in and stopped her ;) ) I'm glad Bella isn't hurt worse. Hope you get to the bottom of Freya's problem soon.

Sorry to hear aabout this Tanya - hope you can sort things out!
Our little Freya has just come into season - her first - she isn't a bit mopey - but we've had to do quick turn rounds - it was suposed to be the week for Freya & Gypsy to be inside - but, bearing in mind the fact that Gypsy will be in season in another month, and her "wandering" tendencies, we've decided to put the two of them down into the kennels beside the Aussie girls & ring the boys into the house (where they were until Saturday) - so Aussie boys acting as draft excluders at every door - ok - I know there are only 2 of them - but how do they manage to be on the wrong side of every door I need to go through????
Touch wood - no "squabbles" between the girls...yet - PMT with teeth - that's all we need!!

I am sorry that you are having problems, it has brought back memories, we had a 14 year old Lhasa that was snappy at times, she turned on a TM that we had, in turn the Tm stood her ground and grabbed the Lhasa by the neck there was one large puncture wound in the neck unfortunatly it went through her windpipe, she was dead by the time she got to the vets. She was a rescue Lhasa that we rehomed 10 years earlier. I know you will vet the new home, but I feel that all contacts in the future know that this girl can never be trusted fully in the future. Wish you lots of luck with her

Hi Tanya
I sympathise with you, my eldest girl has to be fed seperate from my other three as she is very possesive over her food, and not to be trusted when food is around. and im having to watch her more now with my 14wk old pup having a broken thigh bone, nothing to do with her though.
regards polly_45
well freya is in season so it seems as if though that the combination of her looming season and Bella was too much for her,
bella spent the night crying and feeling very sorry for herself as she had no one to keep her company, so tonight she has Jake the old timer for company,
Freya is being kept away from other dogs for the time being until her season has finished and then we will see how she is after, one thing for sure she is not seeing Bella again

i have just had the same with my two bitches, ones 5 years old the other 16months who just had her first season.
both of them came into season together sleep, eat bonk each other until brie was came out of hers, then it all turn around a fight broke out,but didnt see who started it,no food was around, teyha came off worse, the young one,but teyha has a fear to brie now, both bitches get on with the other dogs in the house and out,but there still a bit of tention between them, both are having phytoma preg,
so i know its homomens,
so i am thing about spaying teyha the young one
i alway kept male dogs before i got wispa,i love my girls dear but, give me boy dogs any time, over the pass 25 year with my males i didnt have any trouble.but bitch are like us humans up and down.
hope bella ok soon
This all brings back memories of when my mother had cocker bitches. There were two that just did not get on - I bear a scar of trying to separate the two. I think when bitches decide they wont get on there is nothing you can do. Our two, with the long ears used to practically swing each other around the place when they were in full fight. It would start for no aparent reason and the males would hide in the shed!!!!!!
Do hope that Bella recovers well.

glad you said that about the male dogs, beacuse chase dos not like it to,he gos and find his space when it did kick off, bless him,
i had all dogs before wispa, rush was a stud dog harley was the clown, but i can put my hand on my heart and say i never had a problem with them rush went to stud harley went for the car trip a well, and when wispa and brie was in season no problem at tall,
but bitches that is another story,
i have males any day.
