Hi all
It was Burnham on crouch carnival yesterday, my daughter lives there so i stayed with her for the weekend,
as usual had a great time, got very very drunk, infact its taken me nearly all day to get over my hangover, my stomach felt like i had drunk a bottle of bleach but it was worth it, nice to spend some time with my daughter, son in law and 2 grandsons,
Its fab how they do it at Burnham they make it a whole day of events, they close the street off and they have Puppet shows, some nice firemen ;) having race's, clowns, fancy dress, singers, dancers and radio essex and lots more, there is also a fun fair at the park and the carnival is in the evening,
Why cant other places do thing like this it brings the whole community together,
Is there anywhere else in the country that do such things ?
Heidi
I forgot there is also a big firework display on this evening.

Hi Heidi!
We were there as well!!
It's the first carnival - apart from the Disney parades - that I think I have been to for ages and ages - and it was lovely to see all the floats that WEREN'T professionally done - Mums & Dads in their own time, doing them up for Playgroups, for dancing schools etc - and then there were those thrown in at the last minute - like the Builders' Merchants, that labelled their float as Bob the Builder & labelled the cement mixer Dizzy, etc! We spoke to the guys on the pirate ship, and they said it had taken 12 of them 7 weeks to construct it.
With carnival queens coming from as far away as Deal & Dover, obviously Burnham on Crouch isn't the sleepy little town that we think it is - the guys from the Pirate Ship, that came from Southend, said it's one of the most important carnivals around!
The fair was good fun too, and the fireworks were good - with the pubs open all day until late though, I'm not surprised that there were a few headaches this morning - we just went for the evening, after having been out for a meal - but we enjoyed the atmosphere immensely.
Margot
I went home sunday afternoon so didnt see the fireworks last night but my daughter and grandsons did.

No, we didn't take the dogs (we went for a meal first at Woodham Ferrers) otherwise, I would have taken a couple of them, just for the socialisation!

Oh no -

I'm going to sound like a right wet blanket but, why fireworks? :(
I love them but most animals don't - can't we keep them at least to November? :)
That aside, the carnival sounds lovely and great fun ;)
