I am in the middle of a break up with my partner, most of this is caused by my four dogs as i not only love them, i also had all my interest around them e.g. going to shows dog books, films, internet and programs on T.V.. We used to get on so well and my ex would come to shows with me and alsorts as his breed is the sibe he loved and even cried over the film White Fang. Now he could never hate the dogs but is now saying we are going down different roads. What can i do? I am keeping 3 and he is taking the one of the sibes i feel so sorry for the sibe as she loves the other dogs i feel it is break her heart as well as mine. The thought did cross my mind to cut the dogs down to 2 so it would be less to worry about. has anyone been like me that they choose the dogs over the partner? Please let me know as i cant stop bursting into tears, and wondering if it is worth losing him for my K.9. love.

A friend of mine got rid of her horse and her two dogs ten years ago at her fiance's request. Four years later he left her anyway and she wished she'd chosen the horse and the dogs. All the best.

A woman needs the horse of her dreams and a man to pay for it. :D
I chose my dogs over my husband, and would do it again...and again. The dogs love you for who you are, not what you can do for them. I do not regret one second of walking out. I'm on my own with my kids and my dogs and I love every second. :D We split the dogs down the middle (not physically

) and they settled to the new way very quickly, but we both ended up with 2. Do what feels right.

Definitely sounds like an excuse. If you offered to cut the number of dogs down and asked him if he would stay if you did, I bet he'd find another excuse - say it's too late now to do that, etc etc. If he really wanted to work things out, he would have asked if you could talk things over. Your dogs and the life you have as a result of having them will be a great comfort to you now.

A few years ago now my then husband decided it was him or the dogs.
We discussed the matter and it was agreed that I would re-home my fantastic Sibe pup, whom I bred, and my beautiful Rough collie boy whom I also bred.
I was 'allowed' to keep the two Dams.
I, like you, thought it wasn't worth losing him over 'dogs'.
CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He still p****d about behind my back and he still kicked the s**t out of me for another 2 years.
I now, 6 years on, don't know what became of my two dogs. It breaks my heart.
I also, on the up side, now have a fantastic partner who loves our numerous animals as much as I do.
We never disagree about our pets. We have 13 ferrets, 4 dogs ( 2 Mastiffs) and a pony.
It's great.
Oh!!!! He's younger than me too so he can do all the walks with me.
