Irish Water Spanial is a retriever when working but a spanial in the show ring!

i have never heard of chesapeake bay retriever? is it on this site? i want to see!!

Very powerful muscular dog. Similar to a Labrador although it gives the appearance that the back legs are too long. Has a very distinct coat, tending to be wavy on the neck and shoulders and very oily outer coat with a very fine undercoat.

It's ideal job of work is as a wildfowling dog out retrieving on the marshes and muddy foreshore. Some are inclined to be thugs!

Regards, John

Have a look at the Breed Standard.
