I have never used a crate before and after following instructions of bedding and partitioning though it would be straightforward!! Big mistake my darling little mally pup thinks it is a giant portaloo and will wee and defecate on her bedding/newspaper, she is only caged at night or when we are out (not often) as we have 2 other large mals and obviously won't leave a 10wk old pup with 2 adults yet out of the cage she uses the newspaper and sleeps on my older dogs bed, any ideas why she soils her own bed, have had dogs all my life and never come across this, but never used a crate before.

Oooh another Malamute puppy :D I have a 19 week old pup as well as a nearly 3 year old boy :)

Try partitioning the crate so it is too small for her to actually walk around in ...just enough space to lie down and move about at night comfortably :)
