Hi Lea,
We have a border collie pup she is now 6 months old. A little while ago we were also looking for safe places that she could run freely etc. We are in yorkshire and wanted her to experience the 'sea side'
We were told about a beach at Saltfleet, Donna Nook, it is brilliant for dogs and kids, only sand sand and more sand ! there is only ever a few people around with their dogs. There are no shops, it is purely open beach a little desert like really. You can walk out to sea, which, when we go it takes about 30 mins. The sand and sea to paddle in is quite clean !  parking is on a quiet side road near to a private caravan park,no official parking so is free.
Also the beach at the far end of Mablethorpe near to the seal sanctuary is also ok for dogs, although it is not usually easy to park their because of the visitors to the sanctuary. You can park not too far away from the town ,a car park situated between the sanctuary and the town that take you onto the beach it is reasonably prised for the day but is very cheap after 2 pm ,toilets and a little car park cafe is there also.
hope this helps
jackie
