Annie my six month old Labrador is a normal pup in every way except when i dry her with a towel after her walks she gets quite nasty growls and tries to bite me also she does this sometimes if i take somthing out of her mouth i.e. snails, sticks ect.I have always had Labs, never known this with my others, she is from a very good breeder, can anyone help.

Hi Sheila,
If it was me I think I would avoid towelling her down after walks and if you want her to drop snails/sticks etc offer her a tasty alternative and hopefully it will divert her attention and she'll become disinterested in whatever else she has in her mouth. I know what you are saying though it is unusual behaviour for a Lab especially a bitch. They are normally so placid
I wonder if there is a part of her body that is sensitive for some reason perhaps she is sore somewhere and rubbing with a towel is irritating that area. Has she had plenty of physical contact as she has grown up? Are you able to check her over once in a while? Or does she grumble.

Annie appears to be grumpy, because she has one thing on her mind, that is to get on her sette for her afternoon sleep , I only dry her gently, she does have lots of contact with people and other dogs, we do have a five year old Lab so she has lots of company.
                                                              Regards Sheila.
