Can anyone help me please

I am looking at getting some dog cages made and fitted into a Ford Transit but most are quoting weeks and weeks before they can be done and charging a fortune,I dont mind paying a fair price as my dogs safety is paramount,but does anyone on here know of someone who can make them  and fit them please.

Have you thought about approaching a local welders or ironmongers? I know a few people whom have taken this route and had custom made cages to their own specifications made and fitted at a reasonable price. The firms did have to fit in building the cages around their other work commitments, so time scales did vary. Check out the yellow pages and see who is local to you.

Most of the larger firms are very expensive and their lead times quite long if it is a custom made jobbie.

Barnesbrook are of very high quality, designed and made by an ex aircraft engineer, and much less expensive than some other well known makes.  They are also silent! :D

I bought mine after seeing several examples of his work and it is superb; I am familiar with all the makes in the UK and IMHO this firm is the best. He will also put on little extras for you such as leads for hooks etc.  I cannot recommend him highly enough.

I ordered a double cage from him a few months ago after Tohme's recommendation. Not only was the lead time much shorter than other quotes, but the cost was half that of the next cheapest! Although my cages are very simple, they are excellent quality and quiet (which matters when the van is so noisy, couldn't cope with rattling cages too :) )

Hi............you could try www.hamsterbaskets.co.uk .............(silly name i know!...but they make custom cages at a fraction of the cost of anyone else,silent too!..plus a few added features like covered "holes" where you slide across a metal plate and you can clip on your dogs lead before opening the cage !.worth an email anyway

The problem with some of the dog cages recommended above is that they are the mesh variety and therefore aren't brilliant at keeping the dirt and mud and (on the odd occasion with some dogs - puke) out of your car!  With a solid base you get the option to hose it out when it gets dirty.

You might find that they are worth waiting for.  I had my last Lintran box for about 10 yrs and it was still going strong when I passed it on when I changed car.

I can't understand people who let their dogs travel loose in the back of the car - you wouldn't do the same for your children would you?
