I was looking at a litter sired by a leo with 9:20 hip score, the dam had a score of 3:5, elbows 0, heart clear, eyes clear, I was a little shocked about the hips, but apparently he was kicked in the back legs as a pup by a horse, and the person told me all of his puppies have had low scores, i dont know what to do, the sire moves so well, and the litter is fantastic!
Advise please!

could be quite likely!
i would!!!!!

I would check the scores of his progeny and then if it were true that they were good it wouldn't put me off
Archer

If all else is right (and sounds as if it is), a hip score that uneven with a good score on the mother would not worry me at all ............
For a small fee, you can get the Kennel Club to send you a list of all hip scored Leos, you could check progeny that way. They will email it to you, so you could have it today.

you could go on the leo stud book and find his affix then kc name and look on there for his offspring.there is a section with all the litters produced by both sire and dam and his offspring will be listed with the hips etc online.
who is the sire?
http://www.larkholme.co.uk/ for access to the stud book.
hope it helps.

by rights he should not have been used the club states no more than 15 on 1 hip for stud use.
even if this is the case that he was kicked he shouldn't be used as stud. the club rules are no more than 25 with max of 15 per hip.

me again
i have looked at the stud book and i can't find any dog with the hips of 9:20 or a dog with this score with a current eye test cert.
i would ask them if they are members of the leo club of gb? or is the owner if a different country club. please take a closer look at the paperwork of the parents to check it is all in order.the eyes are tested yearly not once in their life like the hips.
if the breeder is honest then the damage to the hips is true ask for proof of this.if it is the real results without injury you have got a bad score for the sire and alot of breeders would not use him as stud.
there is leo pups available from breeders with correct paperwork and less hip scores who are members of the club, some have been born some still due.(in the uk)
i have a leo who's parents scores are total of 6 and 11.his score is 16 4;12. so his hips are worse than both of his parents.
as an owner of a leo i wouldn't get a pup from such a high sire, even though you don't know what you have untill they are scored.

I would not buy a puppy of any breed which has a parent with an uneven score, I did have it all explained to me by my X ray specializt vet & basically a 10:10=20 score is better than a 4::16=20
I would ask to see the hip score sheet for both parents & then look at what the scores were for.
Just been discussing HD with the vet as I have just lost my BC with a high hip score 34:34=68 at 12 1/2 with cancer, he was never lame & never developed arthritis etc. & he agreed with what I was told when I had HD scoring explained to me back in the very early days
