OK my friends maiden bitch had stopped bleeding was mated twice, and is now loosing bright red again, something else I have never seen before, Is this normal ? Stopped bleeding day 12, mated day 13 and 14 bleeding today day 15 and growling at the stud if he dares go near, so I think we are all done with just wondering about the bleeding

Do you actually mean blood or do you just mean season discharge? If you actually mean blood I would get the bitch to the vets ASAP! I'm surprised if the season has restarted but still feel that there could be something wrong there somewhere and think I would get her checked out anyway.
Regards, John

Sadly this happened with my girl and she lost her litter :-(............do you mean really red, like full blown season red? or worse? one of my girls have been known to colour again a couple of days after mating, but if it's heavy I would say pop her to the vet and get her checked out

Right have just spoke to her again, and she says, its more pink than red and it's more noticable when she has been to wee and is wet. Nothing where she lies or dripping, she is just worried as the her discharge was clear before mating

I find that the normal sequence of a season is blood for about 9 days, watery discharge for about 4 days, then dark blood for up to a week. Often this sequence happens even if a bitch is mated, so your friend's bitch IMHO is just having a normal season. Sometimes a bitch stops bleeding after being mated, sometimes she doesn't. It makes no difference to the outcome of the mating. I had a bitch years ago whose season always lasted 27 days, and she would carry on with a slight amount of dark blood until day 27 whether she had been mated or not.
Just read your last post, and you say the discharge is slightly watery. You also say she was mated yesterday and the day before. Well the dog puts a lot of fluid into a bitch at the time of mating, and this is probably still leaking out slightly and diluting the end of season bloody discharge.

I totally agree with pjw.... my girl was mated on day 12 but bled again for 6 days after she had a normal pregnancy and had 4 good sized pups

this happend to my bitch , mated day 11 & 13 and small amount of blood loss on day 15 for about 3 days. she whelped a litter of 9.
that's a totally normal bleeding pattern. during the fertile time it becomes a straw color or pale pink then it turns back to red blood.
