how do you deal with a nasty dog thats off the lead?
the reason i ask is because there are a few that we have met on the fields, the owners let them off knowing that they are funny with others and 1 women has no control over her dog at all,he completely ignores her calls, she usually has to stop him coming to others by chasing him before he gets to them.
i know this because he was running towards tob growling at him from a distance thinking shall i attack? plus my dad knows her and she admits she has no control but continues to let him off.
others say they are ok but a gsd was off and ready to kill i think it is because of toby size, scared the poop out of me.but if she knew he was ok then why put him on the lead to pass us?
what would you do or say?
to me if a dog is off the lead it means the dog is ok with others and the owner has the control needed,so why is it people allow these dogs off it gives out the wrong message to others.
if any did have a go at him i would simply say which is on the lead and which is off.i know he would be ok with any dog that came our way he doesn't know how to be funny with other dogs.
plus i think i would point out the fact that if you don't have the control needed the dog should not be off.
has any one been in this situtation before and how did you deal with it?
it annoys the hell out of me other owners not being responsable with their dogs. if i had a dog that could be funny with others it wouldn't be let off it would be on a line so i could keep it away.
thought people??????????
Remember this happening to us with our pup and Kerioak here advised carrying an umbrella so you can open it with a whoosh as the nasty one charges, giving yours time to flee to mum. It works. I also change direction etc when seeing a local dog who loathes mine as the 2 of em are now determined to settle things. Owner of nasty dog thinks he " just wants to play"
