How soon after giving birth can a bitch have a bath? Mine had them a week ago and she really needs a bath.

Can you not just wash down the dirty areas, rather than give her a complete bath? She'll be discharging for several weeks (just as people do) so it would be an ongoing process.

Cant really just sponge her down as she is dirty all over. My mum suggested to get her some cream for her nipples like women use to stop them getting sore is this a good idea? I cant wait for the pups to open their eyes and ears. They are quite a hand full but lovely little things.

What breed is she? My smooth-coated breed is bathed every year or so as a rule (unless they are going to a show) so a post-natal washdown is easy. If your bitch is longer-coated, keep her belly-hair short so that the pups don't become tangled in it, and keep the pups' nails clipped (take off the sharp hooks from about 3 days of age) and the bitch's nipples shouldn't get sore.
