Hi i have an adorable 3 month old working type lab, she is great, one thing though when i let her off the lead in the garden she bombs around, and when i call she doesnt seem to listen until ive been standing there for about 2 mins calling her, she seems to interested in exploring than listening to me, is that normal? how can i get her to listen to me!?

First of all, stop calling her if you know she isn't going to come! All she is learning from that is that she can ignore you. What she is doing is normal - she is exploring her new world. If she spends all her time indoors with you, and her outside time is limited, the novelty of 'outside' is far more exciting than you. How long are you spending outside with her? And are you standing still, or pottering about gardening, or playing with something she might find exciting?

Don't forget her breed - she is 'hot-wired' to explore and sniff out interesting smells.

What Jeangenie is saying is the best possible advice. Never give a command if you can possibly avoid it if you are not in a position to enforce it. At 3 months old she will only have started learning the commands and to ignore a command makes it into just a sound you make. Force is not needed but gentle guidance is.
