Hi
I have probably been naive in my purchase - but I have bought an 8 week old Staff bitch called 'Maddie'. She is a beautiful dog, full of life and personality, and she has fitted into our family well. I bought her off a couple who had the father and mother at their home, and they had a beautiful compound with lots of luxuries, the puppies were big and healthy.
The downside I have later realised is, that I don't think the litter was KC registered. I got a lineage chart, but we were so took by the puppy we were more interested in her diet and how to properly care for her. I suppose deep down, we didn't even care if she was a pedigree, she was the dog for us. In hindsight, I can see the naivety in this, and also the possible implications for the breed itself. She has been checked by the vet and has had her first inocculations, and she is a good healthy strong pup with a fiesty mind, and a top line in sulking when scolded.
Can I do anything to remedy the situation? I would love her to be registered, and be part of the proper Staffie world. I have looked up some of her grandparents on the internet, and she has some true quality behind her.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Rob J

There could be good reasons why she isn't registered..have you asked the breeder of the pup at all?

They have moved - it was nothing sinister, they were in the middle of the move when we went to pick up the puppy. After reading a bit of info, I don't actually understand why the litter wasn't registered, her mother and father were beautiful dogs.
I have no idea why - hence the question about if I can do anything about it?

Hi Rob, only the breeder can register a litter with the Kennel Club. To be registered, BOTH parents must be registered first. The KC will not register a litter that has been born to a dam that was less than 12 moths old at the birth. Neither will they register a litter that is born to a bitch older than 8 years at the time of the birth. So as you can see there are several reasons why your puppy might be unregistered. As already said, contact the puppy's breeder and ask if it possible for them to be registered. However, if any of the above apply, then it's simply impossible.
Good Luck,
Dawn R.

Hi Robj,
You don't say how long you have had your puppy - it's possible the litter's ragistrations were not available when you got her at 8 weeks. Just as it didn't ocur to you to mention papers to the breeder at the time, she may have been a bit harassed too with all the work rearing a litter involves coupled with organising a house move too ;-)
If it is only a few weeks or so since you collected Maddie, it could be that the papers are already being processed by the KC. Do you have any new contact details for the breeder or a way of finding them? I don't think the KC will inform anyone not owning the dam of whether a litter is registered but it may be worth a phone call.
If you got her some months ago and the litter was registered, then you should be able to get confirmation from the Kennel Gazette as all registrations are published there.
Good luck and please let us know how you get on :-)

Hi - thanks for all your replies, I am currently still trying to contact the breeder. Maddie is 10 weeks old now, we have had her for 3 weeks.
Her parents were:
Dam: Beraka Indigo (her parents: Bridletown Noble Prince of Beraka/Valglo Voltaire of Beraka)
Sire: Costa Bomb (his parents: Crashkon What a Cracker/Kymclara Miss Scarlet) Most of his lineage contains Crashkons and Blitstaffs.
I could write the full lineage if that's any help?
If you email the KC through their website with the breeders name, and the details of the sire and dam you've posted they will tell you if the litters' been registered (they answered my question the same day!) :)
hi..going off the breeding you have given...there should be no reason that pups arnt registered..good luck.jayne
