Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / Are conkers poisonous to dogs?
- By Guest [gb] Date 15.09.04 20:09 UTC
My staffie Sparky has discovered the most fab game, chasing and then demolishing conkers, she doesn't swallow them whole (so hopefully no blockage problems) but I suspect is eating bits. Any advice gratefully accepted.

Hi,
my staffy does this too and i was told that they are harmful if eaten in quantity.  Missy doesn't seem to have had any ill effects (yet!) and she has been doing this for a few weeks.  It seems like every park where I live has conker trees so its difficult to take her somewhere without them.

Hi
We have a huge conker tree in the grden and my two staffs are forever eating them Thankfully I see them out the other end, so to speak :). I have heard that they are poisonous, but they just go straight through my dogs! I wouldnt advise you to 'let' them eat them though, besides I dont think they taste that nice.
