I am unsure of the naming proceedures of the KC. I have been granted an affix and understand about that bit. I also have a form from the stud people to send to the kennel club when my pups are two weeks old. I remember when I got my bitch that the breeder made a thing about the KC saying that all pups in that litter had to have a name beginning with a certain letter. Is this misunderstanding, mythology, standard practice, or what? If anyone can throw any light on the matter I will be grateful as I have to start thinking of suitable names for 10 in the next week. I have great faith in you all and know that some one out there has the answers I need.

Hi some breeders like to identify which litter the puppies have come from by giving them names beginning with the same letter i.e. first litter all the names start with A 2nd B and so on but this is up to you.Others like to pick a theme as in all the Harry Potter named dogs or musical names,discriptive names as in colour again up to you so what you need to do is decide what you want to use and then think of suitable names that with your affix dont exceed 24 letters in total.Sometimes they will not allow one of these as it uses someone else's affix and so you need to have two names picked for each pup to put forward or make sure you mark the box that says you dont want the KC to name them if they have to refuse a name.HTH Gillian

Thanks for that Gilliian. It takes the mystery out of the process. I don't think the KC paperwork or website makes it too clear what you are expected to do. I shall put my thinking cap on and see what themed names I can come up with!
