Topic Dog Boards / General / DOG BACKPACKS

has any one used a dog backpack on their dog? i am thinking about buying one for our leo to use.it would just be to carry bits on a walk, water, bowl, poop bags etc.i usually have it in a backpack but it gets heavy fast with all the stuff i carry for him.
i have looked at a few but does any one know which is the best for the dog? im not bothered about name/brand etc as long as it the best on him.
also is it true a dog should only carry 1/3 of its own weight? not that this would be the case with him,he probably wouldn't know he has got it on.
any help in this area would be of great use.

I was told that a fully fit, adult dog should be able to carry 30% of its bodyweight when backpacking (though obviously you start out with minimal weight just to get them used to the feel of the back pack and then in time adjust the weight accordingly) HTH
