My dobe barks in the day to go out to the garden for toilet, but at night when we are in bed, if he needs to go, he goes on the floor in the kitchen.  Last night two wees and one pooh.  He goes out at about 11pm and then I am up at 5am.  I changed his feeding times and this seemed to help, because it was every night.  I feed him now at 9am, 2pm and 8pm.  I have not cut out the 2pm feed as he still seems to look for this feed, and as I am about it is not a problem.  Any help! 

You don't say how old he is or what you are feeding him ...all info may help :)

He is 7 months old.  I am feeding him on  Beta Puppy - he has been on this since day one.  I have not changed him as he has had no problems with this food, his motions are always well formed and he looks very healthy.

In my opinion he doesnt need three meals a day  at 7 months just two and the trouble is with the dry complete foods they need to drink quite a lot of water hence the need to go spend a penny

I think we all assume complete foods are best but I sometimes wonder mine seemed to drink an awful lot. I have  changed mine to  small amount of complete and meat

I will try putting him onto two meals a day.  He does look for the afternoon meal though.  Should I then feed him earlier in the evening, say about 6ish instead of leaving him until 8pm.

I soak the dried food for about 20 minutes before giving it to them and find they don't drink as much water and they seem to enjoy it more. 

Has he always had an accident overnight or is it something that has just started to happen?  If it has, there could be some medical reason but if it hasn't, he could just have started getting into the habit of going overnight.  Do you use a crate?

Thank you for your reply.  No we don't use a crate.  He has had accidents at night since having him, but since about 5 - 6 months he had been alot better.  I think the problem may have been my boys went back to school on Monday and obviously his day has changed after them being at home for 6 weeks.  He wet for 3 nights and since that he has been okay again.  I wonder whether it was because there had been a change.  He used to wee if I told him off and he went out of the room and I shut the door, I would open it and he would have wet.  He is a bit of a character!

Like children some dogs have control quicker than others, though I have usually found bowel control in olace by around 3 months even at night.  I do think that 3 meals shgould maybe become two, with obvioulsy an increase in each meal, same amount bu fewer meals.  This will encourage his gut to rest more.

What we did when training Tally, was feed her outside, we feed her at 6:30am and 6:30pm.  we encouraged that she had to poo before she came in - now - most days she eats her meal - poos and then comes in, she is 14 months now, but was still weeing and pooing at nght until 9 months! lots of luck!

If I feed my dobe late he barks to go out at some ungodly hour!!
I feed him at about 4pm and he has table scraps at about 9pm -I add some water to his food too
