I have two 10 month old Japanese Akita's, one white and one red/white, they are the first dogs I have ever had and I have worked really hard with them both, taking them to obedience classes and training them daily, cleaning and grooming them regularly. I have never had any experience with showing dogs but I would love to look into it because I think I have two beautiful babies (although I am very bias). What do I need to do to get started, I have tried looking at various websites but to be honest they just baffle me and I haven't got a clue what I need to do next. PLEASE HELP !!! Thank-you. From an inexperience but very eager dog owner.

As Melodysk has already said,go to ring craft.I would also suggest you go to some shows.I would go to some open shows and some champ shows to get a feel for how things are done. There should be plenty of Akita people at a champ show who will be willing to explain to you how things work and you will be able to see what your dog is expected to do...its always easier if you can watch rather than just be told.
Your dog must be KC registered and schedules can be picked up at shows or you can find the ads for shows in the weekly dog papers and if you phone the secretary you will be sent a sched.
Most of all I would say go for the fun of a day out...don't go to win. That way you will have a good day whatever and any wins/places are an added bonus.
