Im slighty confused and hope someone can help out,
Do you have to have an affix in order to register dogs and litters?
If you dont have an affix and you register dogs, are the KC names of the dogs randomly made up.

Thanks, my mind was boggling!

No, an affix isn't necessary for registration, but is usually considered a sign of 'seriousness' in the breeder. It also makes it easier to choose names for each puppy because you know that at least one of the words you have chosen (a name must have at least two words) is allowable.

Hi  I agree with the above reply, but recomemd that you  consider obtaining an affix as it gives each of you pups a kennel name  (this can not be taken of the pups K.C. registation) and from experiance i found that if there is a problem it is proof that the puppy was bred by yourself. Also other breeders within your breed become to know your affix and the quality of the stock that comes from your kennel. This is a advantage if you are looking for a stud dog in the future or one of your puppies are shown and do well in the ring.
