Hi everyone,
im just looking for some advice on how to get a good morning routine going with my pup at present no morning seems to be the same and i think we would both benefit from this! She is 9 weeks and obviously its hit and miss at this stage with the toileting. However she is getting lots of praise when she goes in the garden. im preparing ahead for when she can go out for walks etc (has 2nd jabs next week) any advice or tips much appreciated.

you'll will find a routine that suits you both ...mine is lets dogs out first thing then breakfast for the dogs and me LOL .....hr or so in the garen then a kong with a little something tasty in whist i get a shower and sorted out then walks ................they then sleep long enough for me to do housework and forums !!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Deb,
I found in the first couple of weeks we had no routine whatsoever and the puppy was pretty much dictating what happened...didn't even realise til I had to go back to work, then it was not funny getting in at 3am then getting back up at 7am to run around with him all morning before going to work at 12.45. I was shattered so had to rethink - we just basically made a rough timetable of events and tried to stick to it (like "I must have 6 hours sleep if I am going to function" etc). It was really easy, instead of getting up when my OH went to work I would stay in bed, Kev would get up and take Leon outside and give him his breakfast at 7am then pop him back in his crate til 9am when I was ready to surface. He adapted really quickly and now I get him up. I realise there are other things you have to schedule but thought I might offer an example! I choose to take him for a walk as one of the first things we do cos then I actually get stuff done, sometimes even before I have a cup of tea and cigarette! Imagine!

Lol Charlie! yep it is hard to imagine my mornings are CHAOTIC! what with Molly yapping around like a mad thing and my two kids needing breakky hair plaiting etc. Im going to have to get up that bit earlier me thinks and spend time with the pup, my kids and then try and get myself looking half decent for work Happy days!!!!
Hmm, no sleep for you then! I don't know how you do it - at least I don't have children yet....can't even get myself ready in time and I don't start work til 2pm! Seriously though, you will get into a routine, just remember that you're the boss. (The one with matchsticks under her eyes!)

i know! we all must be mad!!!
What is Leon again Charlie is he a lurcher? BTW when he gets up do you let him out first then give breakfast and then walk or is the other way round?
Take care
Deb
No, he's a Goldie (although commonly mistaken for a Shetland Pony hee hee). I do exactly what you said, let him out then give him breakfast before we go for a walk unless its really hot (like on all 3 days of summer this year!) in which case we walk much earlier then I go back to bed and he has breakfast when I get back up again.
